Is this copied from "older" documentation?
IMO app pool identity should be use and not Network Service, right?
This can also be used in IIS 7 AFAIK..

It's older documentation. It was accurate at the time of the screenshots. You're correct, we should encourage the use of Application Pools. This content should have the screenshots changed and we should also add that they need to setup IIS Authentication/Anonymous Authentication to use the Application Pool Identity

There are also some security considerations with Application Pool identity and Full Trust which Dnn now requires. This is worth a private discussion before offering official recommendations, ping me up if you want to take this discussion further offline.
