Describe the bug
I'm getting a decent sized gap between windows and screen edges when the "Gaps" settings for Windows and Screen Edges are both set to 0.

Steps To Reproduce
Set Gaps to 0
Drag windows to half or quarter screen
Observe gaps between windows

System Info:

  • Distro (incl. version): Debian GNU/Linux rodete
  • GNOME Shell version: 44.9
  • Extension version and from where (e. g. EGO, main branch...): 45 from EGO
  • XOrg/Wayland: Wayland

Does it happen with every window or only specific windows? If it's the latter, it's unfixable from Tiling Assistant's point of view.

Quoting from the issue about known limitations of being a GNOME Shell extension

  • Windows, which change the size by themselves: Nothing I can do about it as an extension. I can't 'force' re/size limitations/constraints. For example, GNOME Terminal when the tab bar gets hidden/shown
  • Windows with "custom resizing": Similiar thing applies here. Same example: GNOME Terminal. It can only resize in full rows/columns. So there will be a small gap around those windows when they are tiled.

Or maybe another potential source:

There are actually 2 'screen gaps' settings. By default, there is only the a generic screen gap setting. But if you enable the advanced settings, the screen gaps settings will be split up into screen top/bottom/left/right gaps. Maybe the other screen gap setting is set?

Enable or disable the advanced setting and check, if the other screen gap settings are also 0.

Hmm, seems like this might be an issue with Chrome 126.0.6478.114 as it appears to only be Chrome windows. I changed the Ozone Platform from "Default" to "Auto" (default picks "X11" while auto picks "Wayland") and the issue went away. I wonder if Ozone Chrome under Xwayland does something weird. It's worth nothing that this didn't seem to be an issue a week or so ago (which I think was Chrome version 125.0.6422.141).

I'm having this bug when using a custom layout with all apps, here's a screenshot pasted on a slightly bigger canvas that shows a 1-2px margin on the edges of the windows.
