Cannot launch local (in user's folder) shell scripts (no such file and directory).

This may only be an issue on my OS installation, but I'd like to confirm.

I can't seem to run any user-specific commands nor any shell scripts that are executable and are in the $PATH variable. When using a command to launch a terminal to print environment variables using the extension, I can see that the $PATH variable is different from those printed on a terminal launched through the desktop, among other variables that are different.

Is this an intended feature? Or is this not reproducible on others' side?
