Right now it's expected behavior (clarification: the order is random, not always backwards). Is there a reason you want to preserve order for multiple links?

I think it’s really simple: People sometimes post multiple links to a sequence (e.g. on DeviantArt) or images that are meant to be seen in order, and it’s very awkward that the images are shown in the wrong order.
