from Bass: users are accidentally creating reservations for the wrong dates and bugging the managers to fix them / create new ones for them since there is a significant lag between selecting a new date in the cart and it actually updating the server. We either need to speed up the update time or force users to manually hit some kind of button (e.g. #448) to allow for the update lag.

I was wondering whether I could bring up the "update dates" feature request I made a while ago. Ever since the switch from ulua, I've been getting a lot of emails from patrons who accidentally make reservations for the wrong dates, and who then end up having their reservations deleted because they miss their checkouts and email me to make them new ones. It's starting to take up a lot of time during my day and it'd be great if we could get this fixed so that it's not a problem anymore.

The email I forwarded is one I've sent 3 times today already, and will send at least once a day. I'm attaching a screen capture to show you specifically the problem I'm talking about. You'll notice the lag time between updating the in the cart and the corresponding change in the catalog. Then you'll notice that once Reservations updates the first date, it automatically sets the second date to the day after the first date for a few seconds before the second cart date gets applied. If the patron adds equipment at any point during this lag, they will end up making a reservation for the wrong dates.

I apologize for the inconvenience, the dates fields in the cart take some patience to operate. Once you change the dates in the cart, it's important to make sure that the change goes through, which you can tell by checking the dates shown next to equipment availability in the catalog (shown).

As long as the dates in the catalog like those above match the ones you set in the cart, your reservation should be for the correct dates. Even when being careful like this, it's important to double check the dates on the finalize reservation page, also shown.

I've created you two new reservations to match the ones you wanted (technically, you're not supposed to have overlapping camera lens reservations but I made an exception this time). Let me know if you experience any further problems!

Hi there,

I'm very sure that I requested the Sigma Macro Lens 50mm from 3/25 (today) to 3/26 and the Manfrotto Tripod from 3/29 to 3/30. I remember reserving both for 3/24 to 3/25 by mistake and canceling that reservation myself before creating the two reservations I just described.
