Ruby gem on Linux Mint 19.1

Installation problems. I know it worked in the past but now it's coming up with a shed load of errors. As a stand-alone Red Shoes work's (sort of) but I'd much rather use Ruby gem
This is what happens when you use require.

I'v been at this for a couple of days (Flush out the gems and reloading Etc) and gem will normally download the dependencies and does not complain but fails silently
Current Ruby installed:-
