Why both a Form component and pattern?

Summary

Why a Form pattern and component? The material covered on the component's usage page seems to be repeated on other usage pages for specific form components (i.e., text input). The pattern and components pages also repeat the same information in a few places. My suspicion is that the Form component could be removed with minimal impact.

I have also identified a number of typos and editorial problems, along with a few other questions.
