I would prefer to use Prism with React code. It simply works better with JSX. It might be nice to make it possible to swap the highlighter.

Hm, yeah, good point, though do not have time for it. If you got time it would be great with a pull on it :-) Highlighter has been updated a lot though, so works really well now? It also supports other languages very well.
