First, I love this application, it's a real productivity boost. But... I'm seing some strange behaviour with my setup.

Setup:

I have a (perhaps unusual) setup with a 13" MacBook Pro (1280x800) connected to an Apple display Cinema HD (1920x1200), these are arranged with the display above the MacBook and the MacBook screen. If it makes a different which is the "main" display, I have the Mac menu bar at the top of external display and the Dock at the bottom of the MacBook display.

Issue:

I get a number of different states depending on the action I use and the state of the window prior to doing the ShiftIt action.

For example:

  • Command+Right followed by Command+Down on an application currently on the external display results in the application being positioned "correctly" with the top left corner being in the middle of the top display, but the width is the width of the bottom display and the height is random and often expands well down into the bottom display.
  • Command+Up followed followed by Command+Right on the bottom similarly results in the top left corner being positioned correctly but here the width is too large and the window expands well off the side of the bottom display.
  • On the bottom display Command+Down seemingly randomly either expands below the Dock or is sized to end just above the Dock.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting and sorry to replay late. I was actually replying yesterday, but the machine crashed :(

I experience the same behavior, which is rather sad as I thought I covered these case as well.
Just a quick question - what OSX version do you use?

The thing is that it seems that the app is trying to position the window correctly - from the logs in Console.app you can see that, but the Accessibility API is failing. I have already found one bug in it.

I will definitely have a look it into, please stay tuned.
Filip

A 1 day turnaround is not considered a late reply, mate. No worries.

I've got OSX Lion 10.7.1.

I tested it with the latest shiftit16 and it works for me, but perhaps I missed something. Also it should work for X11 apps and apps with drawers.
