From what I understand the main difference for the user is that the new version runs on PowerShell Core.

Is PowerTab supposed to work on Linux and macOS? I don't get any error but all tab completions are coming from PSReadline.

Support for PowerShell Core is not yet guaranteed (I haven't set up an environment to test it). I have fixed some obvious problems, but I probably won't get full testing done for a few months.
