Add Article Filtering Feature

I really, really want to use this (or it's related plugin) on my site, but the features are very limited. I currently run a membership site where some of my articles are hidden from public view. Naturally, I'd like to exclude those articles from the repo if possible.

Is there any way to include a filtering feature, so I can choose what gets synced to GitHub. At this point, I'd be satisfied with category filtering.

I'm no PHP expert, so I wouldn't know where to begin with extending this plugin.
