In this broken state, it is not possible to zoom at all (keybinds like +, -, a, s, or touchpad gestures all stop working), and the pages of the document are now all suddenly different sizes.

I think this might be a regression, as I only started encountering this bug recently.

How to reproduce:

  • open a document
  • press s or a to fit the document to page width/height
    • zooming using +, -, or = does not trigger the bug
  • zoom using a two-finger pinch on the touchpad
  • notice that zooming is now completely broken, and the pages of the document are now different sizes. There is nothing unusual printed to stdout.
System info

  • OS: Arch Linux
  • zathura --version:
    zathura 0.5.6
    girara 0.4.4 (runtime: 0.4.4)
    (plugin) pdf-poppler (0.3.2) (/usr/lib/zathura/libpdf-poppler.so)

I have a similar issue, but it seems to trigger even without using a two-finger gestures. Sometimes when zooming with s or a (or even just when toggling the visibility of the status bar) the zooming completely breaks, pages get truncated and sized differently and navigation becomes impossible. Sometimes this gets fixed by entering and exiting full screen mode, as pointed out by @1sma31L, but this doesn't work in a reliable way.
