I wanted to understand a little more about the complexity of adding SWC support to React Native.

I would like to hear from you, you are also waiting for this change.

There is at least two projects that utilize esbuild:

Older one (I'm actually use it for some projects, and it give us many benefits): https://github.com/oblador/react-native-esbuild
Newer that also using swc: https://react-native-esbuild.vercel.app/ (unfortunately author name its project with same name). Not tested myself, but seems to support hermes.

I think that studying these projects can give a good idea of the problems of integrating SVC into the metro.
