Affected Puppet, Ruby, OS and module versions/distributions

  • Puppet: 4.9.1
  • Ruby: 2.1.9
  • Distribution: Ubuntu/trusty
  • Module version: 107ed81

How to reproduce (e.g Puppet code you use)

include network

What are you seeing

Network/Package[ipaddress]: Provider gem is not functional on this host

What behaviour did you expect instead

I would've expected the module to pick up the correct gem_* provider

Any additional information you'd like to impart

If we're going 4.x with this module already, we can use hiera data in the module for this
