Describe the feature you'd like

That when exporting books the version number comes on the individual pages

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing BookStack users

if we use ourselves as an example, customers can tell us directly which version of the document they got the information from and it would be easier to track who contributed to the book and if you have the latest version

Can the goal of this request already be achieved via other means?

no

Have you searched for an existing open/closed issue?

  • I have searched for existing issues and none cover my fundemental request

How long have you been using BookStack?

1 to 5 years

Additional context

No response

Thanks for the request @Tusher43.

With both this issue, and your other recent issue in #3441, these are both quite specific customizations that may not be desired in all cases. This one, to add the version number, may be more widely accepted but I'm not sure where our limit of scope would be in regards to what metadata we add to exports, I don't want to go down the road of adding everything and making exports messy and unfocused, nor do I want to add loads of options to control every possible desire.

We do have the visual theme system which allows overrides of the templates that BookStack uses, to make customizations as required.
That said, our templates for exports are currently a bit messy.

I've just opened #3443 as a task to clean up the templates for the next feature release. I'll leave these open and, after #3443 has been included, I'll look to provide some examples on some visual theme system overrides for this and #3441.
