Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
To select icons for my icon set, I can either scroll through the list of available icons or search by name. This is cumbersome because I either need to know the exakt name of an icon or look at ~100 icons.

Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to search for keywords (or "tags") that yield to one or more results. E.g., if I search for "person", results would include all icons that resemble a person: accessible, person, face, walking, ...

Google implements this solution for its Material icons: https://fonts.google.com/icons

The same solution would also enable me to search for icons that represent a domain. E.g., if I search for "airport", results would include all icons that are relevant to an airport: flight-landing, flight-takeoff, briefcase, bus, ...

Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative would be pre-defined icon sets that users can choose from. However, this would not be as flexible. Another benefit of the keyword-solution: The UI of the icon configuration can stay as it is.

Additional context

  • In Google's solution, the user does not even see the keywords that are associated with the icons. I think that should work for Egon as well.
  • Keywords can be hardcoded for built-in icons; I don't think they are necessary for custom icons
