I want to use xfade to merge two videos into one, but I get an error

It looks like that filter requires the "frame_rate" parameter to be set. I've done that in commit c78b0f1 and it seems to be working fine now. Please give it a try with the snapshots: http://bytedeco.org/builds/

The fix has been released with JavaCV 1.5.8. Thanks for reporting!
