We'd like to get into linuxbrew, as recommended by @WSLUser long ago. this will be necessary for getting growlight into linuxbrew.

https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/pull/90536/files is the failure keeping us out right now, something about strndup().

that failure is mystifying. __extension__? what?
