This repository hosts the standardized template for submitting extended abstracts to the Digital History Switzerland 2024 conference. It's designed to ensure uniformity in submissions, making the review process more efficient and accessible. And it is also aesthetically pleasing.
To get started with the abstract template, follow these steps:

Create a GitHub Account:
- If you do not already have a GitHub account, create one here for free.

Create Your Repository:
- Click the "Use this template" button to start a new repository based on this template.
- Enter a name for your repository and decide whether to make it public or private.
- Click "Create repository from template" to set up your new project.

Access and Edit Your Abstract:
- In your new repository, navigate to the
abstract-templatefolder. - Find the
index.qmdfile and click on it. - Click the pencil icon (edit) in the top-right corner of the file view to begin editing.

Commit Your Changes:
- After making your edits, scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Enter a brief description of the changes you made in the "Commit changes" box.
- Click "Commit changes" to save your edits.

Preview and Collaborate:
- To preview your abstract, follow the steps in the "Previewing the Abstract" section below.
- To collaborate, go to the "Settings" tab in your repository, choose "Manage access," and then "Invite a collaborator."

Submit Your Abstract:
- When your abstract is ready for submission, download the repository as a ZIP file.
- Send the ZIP file to the conference organizers if your repository is private. If your repository is public, share the repository link with the organizers.

Previewing your document ensures it looks correct before submission. Here is how you can preview your abstract using the Quarto CLI:

Install Quarto:
- Follow the detailed installation instructions on the Quarto website.

Open Your Terminal:
- Access your terminal or command prompt. On Windows, you can search for "cmd" or "Command Prompt" in your start menu. On macOS, open "Terminal" from your Applications/Utilities folder.

Navigate to Your Repository:
- Use the
cdcommand to change directories to the root directory of your repository. You can typecd(with a space after) and then drag and drop your repository folder into the terminal window to automatically fill in the path. Press Enter to change to that directory.

- Type
quarto preview submissionand press Enter. Quarto will start a local server and open a preview of your abstract in your default web browser.
