Flicks is a movies app using the The Movie Database API.
Time spent: 16-20 hours spent in total
The following required functionality is complete:
- User can view a list of movies currently playing in theaters from The Movie Database.
- Poster images are loaded using the UIImageView category in the AFNetworking library.
- User sees a loading state while waiting for the movies API.
- User can pull to refresh the movie list.
The following optional features are implemented:
- User sees an error message when there's a networking error.
- Movies are displayed using both, a CollectionView and a TableView.
- User can search for a movie.
- All images fade in as they are loading.
- Customize the UI.
The following additional features are implemented:
- User can dismiss the network error view if they desire using the close button provided.
- If an image is not available, user sees a custom designed image that reads "Image Not Available."
- The color content of the status bar text has been changed to light so it gells well with the app design!
- Launch Icon and App Icons are added to make the look and feel of Flicks more desirable.
- The Collection View also displays the "Release Date" along with the movie's "Rating."

Implementing the search bar was bit of a hassle at first since I wasn't comfortable with loops in Swift. But now, it works perfectly.

Flicks is a movies app displaying box office and top rental DVDs using The Movie Database API.
Time spent: 10-12 hours spent in total
The following required functionality is completed:
- User can view movie details by tapping on a cell.
- User can select from a tab bar for either Now Playing or Top Rated movies.
- Customize the selection effect of the cell.
The following optional features are implemented:
- For the large poster, load the low resolution image first and then switch to the high resolution image when complete.
- Customize the navigation bar.
The following additional features are implemented:
- User can also search through the Upcoming movies list apart from Now Playing and Top Rated!
- User can sort the list in ascending or descending order based on the movie titles or they can choose to stick with the original format if they prefer.
Please list two areas of the assignment you'd like to discuss further with your peers during the next class (examples include better ways to implement something, how to extend your app in certain ways, etc):
- Using Collection View to present the movies list.
- Sorting the movies list based on user's preference.

Loading a low resolution image before the high resolution one was a bit tough at first as I didn't knew if I had to nest the methods to set the image.
