obs-studio - Adding Kick as Stream Service: obsproject/obs-studio#10043 |
I tried figuring out what's so bad with that website and couldn't find anything that would be different from e.g. Twitch. |
The guy completely ignored my argument and locked the thread over low-quality posts by other people. He could have just deleted them and responded to the serious ones, but he chose not to do that because he knew he was wrong. Honestly a pretty sad exchange. |
Come to think of it, why is OBS allowed to accept sponsorships from companies like YouTube and Twitch anyway? Isn't that a massive conflict of interest? |
Because it's free money, and why wouldn't they? |
How else are the developers and the project supposed to stay afloat? The users sure as hell won't pay for it |
You ever think they could just get a job? |

Love the casual ageism /s |
I still have no idea why the barely active "maintainer" lashed out over some videogame streaming site. |
My argument being that OBS as a streaming application doesn't need to make the implied types of decisions on the behalf of the user. Also, were that to be the precedent, it would be extremely hypocritical to say the least, since whatever content the maintainer didn't like on Kick also exists on YouTube, Twitch, and other sites that OBS both supports and is supported by via sponsorships. The maintainer is clearly wrong in this situation, as his stated reasoning for denying the PR is both ambiguous and hypocritical in the little that can be safely interpreted from it. |
I do not use Kick and have nothing to gain from it, but there was really no good reason to deny that PR. |
Please don't use this issue to discuss dramas and decisions of other repository maintainers. This issue is only intended for posting links to new dramas, possibly with short summaries, to make people aware of them. Discussing multiple dramas on the same thread is impractical as the thread can grow long very fast. I will be removing or hiding off-topic comments to keep thread at reasonable size. |
