Thank you Ken! I am approving this with a note:
First, in an ideal world, the color picker would be aware of the previous color it was originally wearing but this is not the current flow.
Second, ideally we wouldn't have the Remove action available as it doesn't add any value for this experience, the priority in this flow is to replace a dynamic color or select a new one like it was planned for in UX. It may be something we plan to fix in the future but not planned now.
In the meantime; falling back to a default generic color rather than making that color transparent is best because transparent colors can be confusing for users. Merchants may not be able to distinguish between different elements on the screen. This can lead to a poor user experience and frustrations.
On the other hand, using a default generic color provides a clear visual distinction between different elements on the screen, making it easier for users to navigate and interact with the store.
I would have hoped we could curate each color scheme's default values but this is not possible and viable across scheme definition, per theme.
