Are there any plans (or wishes) to support AC-3 audio?

I am very interested in AC3, but not to pollute the PR by erankor I will discuss it here which seems the right place.

Erankor's PR does not cover when master playlists contain a AC3 level. In my view, that would be the first step to take as I do not see any reason why hls.js would refuse to pass-thru AC3 (or any other codec) to the audio buffer if the browser actually does support the particular codec. As I have limited knowledge yet of hls.js, is there anything that would hold us back from allowing this? Is it a great effort?

Erankor's PR has been stuck there for a while. Is there any discussion on how additional codecs that are not mainstream can be added as part of the main code or some sort of plugin?
