Antonina Babkina, a transgender woman from Russia who asked for asylum in Europe, committed suicide in the Netherlands. Previously, she complained about the lack of necessary medical care. Antonina came to the Netherlands in search of safety and support, but her journey concluded prematurely. The organization LGBT World Beside, which reported Babkina's death, said it was the fifth suicide among Russian LGBT refugees in the Netherlands in a year.

Tonya is a diminutive for Antonina.
