Get Help

Helios consists of some software that creates a toolbox. Profile developers then take this toolbox and create profiles for specific aircraft. Usually, the developers who write the software are not also the profile developers, so it is important to figure out if you need help with the profile or with Helios itself.

1) If you downloaded a profile and have not been able to run it:

If so, please head to Get Help with Profiles

2) If you updated your DCS to a newer version and something stopped working:

After every update, you have to go to Helios Profile Editor and "Apply Patches" in the "DCS Additional Viewports" interface. The status of this interface will be shown red and it will tell you what to do in the "Recommendations." If you try to use the profiles in Control Center without installing the patches, "Preflight Check" will fail. If you disable that preflight check, then most of the exported viewports will not work (you may see missing RWR, MFDs, etc.)

To resolve this, keep your "Preflight Check" enabled in Control Center Preferences and follow the recommendations shown.

If "Apply Patches" fails, see below:

3) If "Apply Patches" fails with an error saying the patches don't fit this version of DCS and to get new ones:

• Run "Repair DCS World" from the start menu or from the command line. Select the "slow" method of "check all files."
• Restart Helios Profile Editor and open your profile again
• Try to "Apply Patches" again
• If it still fails, check for an update to Helios, as this may have already been fixed: https://github.com/HeliosVirtualCockpit/Helios/releases
• If there is no new release, head to Get Help with Helios Software

4) If some display or control in the Helios Cockpit doesn't work:

Most of the time, this can be fixed in the profile. The profile developer needs to figure out if this is actually a bug in Helios or a profile issue. If Helios is actually broken, then the profile developer will figure that out, so please start with Get Help with Profiles

5) If you are the profile developer and a feature in Helios is broken:

7) If you need help because you can't figure out how to do something in Helios:

Helios is a community effort. Please try to research the answer yourself first. Google and also search this wiki.

For all the features that were introduced in Helios 1.6, there are videos available that demonstrate how to use them.

Head to the Capt Zeen Discord where most of the users hang out. Maybe another user can help you along if you have tried everything you can do on your own. Please always keep in mind that nobody is getting paid from this. Also keep in mind that Helios is an advanced tool and it is a bit more complicated and difficult to use than basic software. Set your expectations accordingly.
