Get Help with Helios Software

Helios isn't paid commercial software. So there isn't a support organization standing by in a call center to help you 😄

However, there are some resources you can use if you have found a problem with Helios. Helios users and developers hang out on Capt Zeen's Profile Support Discord.

Please work through the following list and find a section that applies to your situation:

1) If there is an error message being shown on the screen:

Read the message and see which case applies:

1a) If the message mentions an exception or unhandled error but there are no buttons on the window except "Ok":

Please manually create an issue on GitHub Helios Virtual Cockpit Issues. You must include a screenshot of this window or otherwise include the "Control Center Problems.log" and/or "Profile Editor Problems.log" files from your Documents\Helios folder. Attach these to the bug you file so developers can see the exception. Please also include a description of what you were doing at the time the error happened.

1b) If there is a "Share Details" button and the message talks about an exception and there is an exception trace shown:

Click the "Share Details" button and select "File a Bug." Follow the instructions to File a Bug.

1c) If there is a "Share Details" button and the message says Helios was unable to do something or some operation failed, but no exception is mentioned:

• Read the message. Usually there is a "Recommendation" attached that tells you what to do.
• If the instructions are insufficient or impossible to follow, then you can ask on Discord.

2) If there is no error message but Helios is malfunctioning:

If you are confident this is an obvious bug, go ahead and open your Helios Profile Editor Interface Status view and follow the instructions to File a Bug.

If you are not sure if this is a bug, ask on Discord.

3) If you updated DCS and the patches are failing:

If you have already followed the instructions in Get Help, then please ask on Discord. If the DCS patch was released today or yesterday, the new patches are probably just not available yet.
