Helios Project

The Project

Helios is an open source project based on the generous donation of Helios 1.3 by its original author Gadroc.

Since then, Gadroc has not been involved in the project, but his donations link is still available on the Donations page if you want to say 'Thank You.'

Like most open source projects, Helios exists in may forks (copies that may have been modified), but the main one containing the majority of the code and having the most users at the time of this writing is https://github.com/HeliosVirtualCockpit/Helios. It continues the work that BlueFinBima did developing Helios 1.4, which is why that project is the "upstream" of this project and all that work is included here also.

The Team

Helios isn't "owned" by anyone. Contributors are loosely organized as a virtual team and they a#ll contribute as a hobby. Here are some links to learn more:

Team members who directly contribute or can review and merge contributions:

People who have control of the virtual team account and can add more team members:

New code added in the 2020-2021 time frame (the bulk of Helios 1.6):

Commercial Version?

We can't make Helios a commercial product, even though its size, scope, and quality clearly warrant it. The license used (strong GPL) means that we have to give away the source code to anyone who buys it, and that they can freely share it with everyone. So there will always be free Helios, which makes sense, since the original author (Gadroc) donated his entire investment (years?) under these terms. It’s only fair and also a legal requirement.
